چکیده
Abstract Background Rivers and streams are one of the primary sources nitrous oxide (N 2 O) which is an important greenhouse gas with great global warming potential. Yet, over past century, human activities have dramatically increased reactive nitrogen loadings into consequently led to N O emission from river ecosystems. Here, we carried out a study in two subtropical rivers, i.e., Jinshui River Qi slight intense disturbance their respective catchments China. The intended explore spatial variability seasonality emissions, relative importance physicochemical variables, nitrification denitrification potentials, functional genes abundance influencing emissions. Results concentration, saturation, flux peaked high flow season. saturations, downstream were significantly higher than that other areas normal low seasons. concentration was positively correlated water temperature, NO 3 − , DOC, negatively NH 4 + DOC/NO (the ratio dissolved organic carbon water), potential rate season, but not abundance. Both rivers had lower saturation many freshwater systems, EFr-5 factor for river) recommended values IPCC. Conclusions While moderate emissions systems normally elevated summer, those disturbance. Temporal variations of benthic diatom community and its main influencing factors in a subtropical river, China.
Benthic diatoms are the main component in many aquatic ecosystems such as streams, creeks and rivers, and they function as important primary producers and chemical modulators for other organisms in the ecosystems. In this study, the composition of benthic diatoms was investigated and further explored the primary physicals and chemicals affecting their temporal variations in the upper Han River,...
متن کاملIncome Inequality in China and its Influencing Factors
While the average level of income per capita has increased in China rapidly, income inequality is becoming a more serious problem that may threaten social stability and the sustainability of economic development. This paper examines the existence in China of an inverted U-shaped curve for income inequality and economic development (known as the Kuznets curve), and tests for the effects of a ser...
متن کاملSimulated Nitrogen Deposition Reduces CH4 Uptake and Increases N2O Emission from a Subtropical Plantation Forest Soil in Southern China
To date, few studies are conducted to quantify the effects of reduced ammonium (NH4+) and oxidized nitrate (NO3-) on soil CH4 uptake and N2O emission in the subtropical forests. In this study, NH4Cl and NaNO3 fertilizers were applied at three rates: 0, 40 and 120 kg N ha(-1) yr(-1). Soil CH4 and N2O fluxes were determined twice a week using the static chamber technique and gas chromatography. S...
متن کاملFactors influencing wood mobilization in streams
[1] Natural pieces of wood provide a variety of ecosystem functions in streams including habitat, organic matter retention, increased hyporheic exchange and transient storage, and enhanced hydraulic and geomorphic heterogeneity. Wood mobilization is a critical process in determining the residence time of wood. We documented the characteristics and locations of 865 natural wood pieces (>0.05 m i...
